Scenario-based eLearning for medical practitioners

Our client, a leading consultancy offering training to medical practitioners required a highly interactive course taking learners through a number of patient scenarios with possible outcomes for diagnosis and treatment. They needed a variety of different scenarios within the case studies presented – with a high level of complexity in the dialogue. In-built tools for scenarios within Articulate products wasn’t going to cut it!

With a bit of creativity, we were able to design interactive dialogues supported by bespoke line drawing graphics that took the learner through the patient interview asking them to note down key points at various stages during the process. The relevant sections of NICE guidelines were made available if required at appropriate points in the dialogue. At the end of each scenario, learners were asked to choose options outlining their diagnosis (based on the information provided), select recommended courses of treatment and further investigations and follow-up they would recommend in each case. The learners notes were saved and were made available in pdf form at the end of the training alongside the patient details and symptoms.
